Are you KIDDING me?
Neil Young tells a story
What Earth would look like with rings like Saturn
Most interesting. And I caught myself feeling envious of those living closer to Equator. Up here, we wouldn’t see much of the rings at all (video shows how people in Malmö would see the rings, and Malmö is way south of where I live). Still, I suppose you’d grow tired of the rings fast anyway, so yay! I suppose.
Watch British TV live via streaming
Ok, this is nice.
Some person calling him/herself someperson made a very nice little program that will allow for you to watch live British television via internet streaming. And the quality is not too bad either!
What you’ll need is a computer with an internet connection (obviously), set up with either Windows, Mac OS or Linux. Also, you’ll need the awesome VLC media player (if you haven’t already installed it, now is a good time) and a small file called BritishTV.exe. Jump here for download and instructions.

Your headset on and your volume up for Mr. Ronald Jenkees!
I saw a video blog entry a while ago which featured some very very cool background music. Every few years or so, I find myself listening to something, going “what IS that music? WHO made that music? I need to know!”. And then I dig around, and eventually find myself totally digging an artist, or even a kind of music, I never knew before.
And so, this is Ronald Jenkees.
Judging by his YouTube videos, Ronald is a very likeable and honest fella with a musical talent rarely seen. He has released two albums, “Ronald Jenkees” (Spotify link) in 2007, and “Disorganized Fun” earlier this year, both available from his website https://www.ronaldjenkees.com/cd-store/.
But if you have trouble coughing up the $12 his CDs cost, fear not!
From Ronald’s homepage: “If someone has no way of paying for my music, or if it’s “against their religion” to pay for anything digital (LOL), whatever the reason, I’d personally rather those people be able to enjoy my music rather than to not hear it at all. I’m not going to give a tutorial on how to download torrents of my album (google it, it’s simple stuff) but I’m also not going to hate on anyone that downloads my music or shares it with a friend. That said, I still think it’s important to support the stuff you like whether that’s software, music, whatever.”
I’ve become a fan, eager to see what he comes up with next.
The Guild season 3 finale!
For those of you not yet familiar with The Guild, here’s the very first episode, uncensored.
Douglas Adams: Parrots, the universe and everything
This is a hour-and-a-half long video of Douglas Adams talking at the University of California | Santa Barbara in 2001. The video was made shortly before Adams sadly died of a heart attack, and shows his genious as comedian as well as his dedication to saving endagered species worldwide. I enjoyed this video very much.
Clean white Macs really need to be very clean, or warranty is voided
Two Mac owners who had trouble with their computers was denied service and repairs because they’ve smoked near the computer.
Apparently, Applecare may void your warranty if there’s a trace of nicotine, tar or tobacco smoke in your Apple product. Of course, I could understand it if the computer was clogged up with brown goo, causing overheating and failing parts, but that’s not what we’re talking about here.
Applecare denied repairing due to “health risks of second hand smoke”, fearing their employees might get ill by touching a smoker’s computer. Next, you’ll have to desinfect your Mac to have someone look at it. Fingerprints? Forget it, we’re not touching that mess.
I’m a PC myself, and recently opened up my notebook and left it under the dryer overnight as I spilled beer into the keyboard (again). I wouldn’t dream of sending it for repairs, of course, the warranty was voided when I opened it up the first time, and pouring beer inside a computer is very much “damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse (…)”. But I didn’t for a minute consider that the repairmen might get drunk.

Radical-and-vintage-looking eco friendly ATV
This is the KTM RC4 concept ATV. Sooo cool.
The artist is designer Tristan Hipps, who’s got a stunning portfolio well worth a look.
Pivoting through corners on slicks running on lithium battery power, this thing would be perfect for city life. Now, if someone would just make one…

100 year old whiskey IN the rocks

Photo: The Freedom Factory
Two cases of McKinlay scotch whiskey has been found buried under snow and ice in Antarctica. The site is a former base camp for British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton who attempted to reach the south pole in 1909. Shackleton eventually abandoned his mission, leaving his base camp behind, including the whiskey.
“Whyte & Mackay, the drinks group that now owns McKinlay and Co., has asked for a sample of the 100-year-old scotch for a series of tests that could decide whether to relaunch the now-defunct Scotch.
Workers from New Zealand’s Antarctic Heritage Trust will use special drills to reach the crates, frozen in Antarctic ice under the Nimrod Expedition hut near Cape Royds.”
Of course, as the whiskey was left behind a hundred years ago, and whiskey takes a while to become, well, whiskey, it’s probably a hundred-and-then-some years. According to Whyte and Mackay, it should still be as tasty as it was back then, and if they manage to obtain a sample from it they just might start reproduction.

Assassin’s Creed II is bloody brilliant
I played Assassin’s Creed a bit earlier this year. A game that had huge potential, but got a bit monotone after a while. Animations were brilliant, atmosphere was brilliant, game controls were alright. But after a while it became repetitive and lost its charm.
Yesterday, hoping Ubisoft would take what was great about Assassin’s Creed and add a bit of variety, I set myself back in the recliner with the PS3 DualShock controller.
Fair enough, to begin with, it was slow. But then, colour! Set 200 years later than the original Assassin’s Creed, it takes place in 15th century Italy. The dialogue and story is vastly improved. Graphics are a bit better, especially seen in non-player-characters’ clothes and gear. Animations are the best you can get. Seriously. Yesterday I’d played Star Wars: Force Unleashed, and when playing Assassin’s Creed 2 later that day, I thought to myself: “Why couldn’t Darth Vader have had this kind of animation? Vader deserves this animation!”.
Assassin’s Creed 2 is the best PS3 game so far, no doubt!
And yes, I’ve played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. No competition in my opinion.

Foldable speaker

4.5″ x 3.4″ x 1.5″
I’ve been looking for a set of speakers I can take with me in my laptop backpack. Usually, these things are too bulky to be considered really portable, but this might just be the solution I’ve been looking for. The speakers measures only 3,7cm (1,5″) when folded down, and costs $18 online. At that price, you probably won’t have your toupé blown off, but they’re still bound to sound better than your inbuilt speakers, right?

Video games no longer a ticket to hell
I am still not sure whether this is a joke or not, but it might very well be real.
If this thing became a hit, I am sure we’d see many interesting mods soon!
And I’d expect games like Prayer Hero (feel free to add game suggestions in your comments).

Awesome site for awesome photos of awesome parents
Aside from your normal teenage idol fan page, a website dedicated to show how cool, beautiful or cute people are is a rarity on today’s internet. This here is something even less common, a site that will let you share the awesomeness of your own parents with the world!
I quickly grew fond of this site, partly because of the nice shots, partly because it shows a decent side of the internet.
It’s not all rotten.
